The courses in Leisure and Health will provide skills and knowledge for you to manage, design, implement and evaluate leisure and health options for individuals and groups in the aged, disabled, mental health, community and youth sectors. You will gain experience to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team or as a consultant to manage and/or mentor others. Candidates for the Diploma must also be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, in the 12 prerequisite units** from CHC40608 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health (or equivalent).

The Diploma of Leisure of Health is available as a full time 45 weeks course. This course is comprised of 15 units. Students can expect 180 hours of work placement and will need to obtain a Police Check during the first week of the course.

Work Placement

Industry placement of 240 hours needs to be undertaken to successfully complete this course. For cost structure see HIC fees and charges for local students 2012.

Pre-requisites

Completion of Australian Secondary (Year 12) education or equivalent for Diploma courses. Proficiency in English – above 18 years old and completion of 12 compulsory units from CHC4608 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health.

Compulsory pre-requisites for Diploma of Leisure and Health (12 Units) are from Certificate IV in Leisure and Health Industry placement (EBA) of 240 hours needs to be undertaken to successfully complete this course. *units with 36 hours portfolio assessment after EBA. * HIC delivered electives – subject to change. Other electives may be counted under Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer.
